As you know that indoor air pollution is a major health concern, especially for people with asthma and allergies.  Unfortunately, many people are not aware of the threat this pollution poses to their health.  Sources of indoor air pollution can be difficult to detect and it can be confusing to understand how a lot of scientific, chemical jargon affects your home and your family. And here comes the major defect and the negative impact of the duct system on the air quality indoors.

  • The main cause of indoor air pollution is by moisture problems. They are high source of as they can lead to indoor mold growth. Mold can also emit VOCs and particulates, compromising indoor air quality and leading to negative health effects.  Since it is impossible to eliminate mold spores, the best way to reduce the impact of mold on indoor air quality is to prevent or promptly repair the moisture problems that enable mold growth.

  • Inadequate ventilation is also major cause of indoor air pollution and is why pollutants rise in homes during the winter. In highly urbanized and industrial areas, lack of air conditioning and high levels of humidity can increase concentrations of pollutants inside.

  • As you know radon is a noxious gas that arises from the soil and bedrock beneath homes and may be in building materials. Radon which can be found underneath your home in various types of bedrock and other building materials can also be a cause of indoor air pollution.

  • Most of the buildings in which people spend the majority of their time are tightly sealed and insulated to keep out unconditioned outdoor air. As you know most ventilation systems are designed to bring in very little outdoor air, the indoor air that has already been heated or cooled. While this strategy is effective for minimizing energy costs, it can have a negative impact on indoor air quality.
